Theses works on tyvek are a natural extension of my textured surface paintings on rigid substrates exploring color, light and texture.
The work focuses upon geometric forms, grids, repetitive motifs and lushly layered color. The harmony and contrast of the colors are important elements in creating the work's visual impact. The square as a repetitive motif is an homage as well as an acknowledgment of the work's historical roots.
Application of paint to thin substrates juxtaposes the density of the surface profile. Although the work has formal structure, the paint has purposely been applied without sharp edge to maximize obvious implementation by human hand.
